High moisture caused the wood to rot and lose it's integrity. As a result, the floor above was sagging. A steel beam was installed along with a SmartJack Support post to resolve this issue.
The floors were sagging in different areas above this customers crawl space. After a thorough inspection, it was discovered high moisture levels caused the main beam to rot and the jacks to rust. As a result, the structures stability was compromised. To permanently solve the problem, we installed a steel, rust-resistant supplemental beam and SmartJack Support Posts for permanent stabilization.
The owner of this home was getting ready to put the house up for sale, but he wanted to get it in the best condition to sell. Dave Coughlin, a member of our Real Estate Response Team, went out to the house to see what could be done in order to improve the house. Dave noticed that the basement and crawl space were very moist, and the crawl space was not encapsulated and very dirty. Dave solution included encapsulating the crawl space with the CleanSpace wall system to create a mold resistant moisture barrier. Along with also sealing the crawl space vents to fully encapsulate the space. To waterproof the basement the WaterGuard drainage system was installed, along with a SuperSump and CleanSpace on the basement walls. This home is now ready to go on the market!
Because this home had an unenclosed, dirt crawl space moisture and humidity were getting into the home. Mold was also growing, creating an odor that was seeping into the house. In order to repair this crawl space the crew had to do mold remediation by using soda blasting. They also cleared out any debris and fallen insulation. After it was cleaned out they were able to encapsulate the crawl space by sealing the vents and using the CleanSpace encapsulation system. Additionally, they put in EZ-Flow drainage and a SuperSump to pump any water out immediately. The final touch was adding a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier to control relative humidity. Now the crawl space looks better and the home is safer!
This homeowner called us here at Atlanta Basement Systems with concerns of a moist and humid crawlspace. As a company we knew that we wanted to fix this issue for the homeowner, so Josh and his crew were able to install CleanSpace, Ez-Flow, the SmartSump, and the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. All of these pieces will ensure that this crawlspace stays dry all of the time. This homeowner was left happy with the results and we were happy that we were able to restore peace of mind.
